The last section of National Route No. 3 connects the town of Tolhuin with the city of Ushuaia from north to south. After crossing the Kami (formerly Fagnano) and Escondido lakes, the route passes through the Garibaldi Pass in the mountains. From there, it continues through a long valley characterised by peat bogs (wetlands), lenga (Tall deciduous beech) forests, and snow-covered peaks. The entire route is of great scenic beauty. Along the way, you can see Valle de Tierra Valley, home to the province’s oldest winter centre, Cerro Castor, the main alpine ski centre, and other winter centres with dining services and excursions. As you get nearer to Ushuaia city, you will find the iconic Mount Olivia, Mount Cinco Hermanos, and Carbajal Valley with its extensive peat bogs.
