Hito 1 is located in the north of the province at the entrance to the eastern mouth of the Strait of Magellan. The milestone represents the first point of the border with Chile on the Isla Grande de Tierra del Fuego and has a Maritime Traffic Surveillance and Control Station of the Argentine Navy. Cabo Espíritu Santo is a gentle hill that barely penetrates the maritime waters, in a purely rectilinear coastal stretch. It is located 165 km north of the city of Río Grande, in the northern region of Isla Grande de Tierra del Fuego, characterised by its vast landscapes of steppe pampas over plains and low hills, almost devoid of woody elements. From its summit, you can get views of the cliffs, bathed by the Atlantic coasts, the beginning of the Strait of Magellan. On clear days, you can see Punta Dungenes (continental Chile) and Cabo Vírgenes (Argentinian Province of Santa Cruz).
